Yes, Minerva Mentoring is a non-profit program. Mentors don't get paid and mentees don't have to pay.
If you prefer paid services, we suggest looking into coaching.
We, as organizers, only expect that you take ownership and do whatever you can, in order to help your mentee and community. We don't want any guarantee about time commitment.
Individual, 1:1 work typically takes a couple of hours per week.
From our experience, mentees usually require advice and general direction, not intense, hands-on work. Therefore, a scheduled weekly meeting plus spontaneous ad-hoc calls is all that is needed.
We generally don't care where you are. As long as you bring eagerness, good vibes and a good heart, you are welcome.
Our home is Berlin, Germany, which means we might put extra effort here. Nevertheless, we promise not to leave others behind.
Out grant vision is to include people from all walks of life. However, we also need to be realistic and start smaller. Since we are, ourselves, IT professionals, we made the hard decision to focus on the market that we know.
That being said, if you have another skill-set, come say hi anyway. We are very flexible and strive to find opportunities everywhere.
Also, a lot of the work between mentors and mentees is rather on soft skills, psychology and self improvements. For this, you don't need to be a top coder :).
Everyone who has something to teach others and has at least some experience :)

We love mentees that are eager to learn, have ambitious goals and are a tiny bit clueless as to how to achieve them.
We firmly believe **everyone** needs mentor and the only question is - whom can we realistically help and find a suitable mentor for.
