Never Search Alone

A Minerva Mentoring Initiative

Are you experiencing this?

Are you looking for a job and experiencing some of the following?

  • Disappointment after endless interviews
  • Frustration with the process
  • Anxiety and uncertainty
  • Lack of motivation to continue applying

Unfortunately, we have seen that over and over, how bad interview experiences affect individuals, from losing momentum to stopping them from applying altogether. The friction throughout this process can be immense.

But it doesn't have to be this way. Here's where we have something for you!

From "Alone" to "Together"

At Minerva Mentoring we are all about changing this process from "alone" to "together". It's about helping each other, learning and improving ourselves every day. We want to make an impact on people where it matters the most, using our core Minerva Mentoring principle - "you are not alone".

How Does It Work?

Utilizing the "Never Search Alone" framework from Phyl Terry, the plan is to assemble a few groups of 5-6 job seekers and turn their job search from a disappointing and lonely experience into a collective endeavor with a focus on:

Feedback Culture

Mutual Support

Collaboration

Assistance across the groups will be provided regarding interviewing skills, CV and approach to finding a new job.

Who Are We Looking For?

We would like to offer help to a selection of motivated and eager people with their job search, willing to bring active collaboration through the process.

More About Never Search Alone

"A Job Search Council (JSC) is a mutual support group made up of peer job seekers who agree to search together."

It's a framework developed by Phyl Terry and in essence is about a group of several job seekers (a job council) that meet regularly, around once or twice a week, and help each other with:

Regular Meetings

Meet once or twice a week for mutual support

Motivation & Feedback

Keep each other motivated and provide constructive feedback

Find the Right Fit

Search for jobs that match your strengths and skills

Apart from that, you would be encouraged to find your Candidate-Market Fit based on your strengths and skills, instead of applying to every job you come across.

Our plan is to follow this framework. Nevertheless, we can also iterate and find what works best for us.

More About Minerva Mentoring

Minerva mentoring is a non-profit organization that's all about mentoring.

Our vision is that everyone should seek (and provide) mentoring.

A career is a journey that's better with friends. No matter if you are just starting out or have 20 years of experience under your belt, you benefit from having people around you that can bring you to the next level.

Most of the work we do revolves around 1-on-1 mentoring, collaboration within the community, personal growth and mutual support.
